The Purmort Brothers Insurance Agency was formed in 1876 and was the first sales agency for what is now the Central Insurance Companies.  Minor Purmort, the second general secretary of Central Companies, had four sons who were the original “Purmort Brothers.”  They were Frank W. Purmort, Clyde Allen Purmort, Sanford Purmort, and Charles M. Purmort, Sr.  For over 133 years, the agency has continuously represented the Central Companies... making their relationship one of the longest business relationships in our community. 

The agency is currently operated by fourth and fifth generation Purmort’s.  Tim Purmort, President, is the grandson of C.M. Purmort, Sr.  Tim’s children, Michele Mooney, Leah Treece, and Alec Purmort are all part of the agency.  Michele is the head of the Personal Lines Department.  Alec services both Commercial & Personal customers.  Leah is the Agency Administrator and Operations Manager  

The Purmort Agency has become a successful full lines independent insurance agency.  They have a well trained staff and represent many fine companies.  They are one of the oldest members of the Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce and been an active part in the Van Wert area communities by giving not only of their time but by also investing significant dollars to many Van Wert organizations over their 133 years.  With this fifth generation becoming involved in its’ operations, Tim Purmort sums it up pretty simply, “we are very proud of our heritage and feel we are poised for the future.”
